그만큼 대양 is very big. It covers more than 70% of the Earth. The ocean has many different parts. Some parts are very shallow. Other parts are very deep. The deepest part of the ocean is called the Mariana Trench. It is almost 11 kilometers deep!
Deep in the ocean, there is no 빛 from the sun. It is very dark and very cold. The water pressure is very strong. Many strange animals live there. Scientists call these animals “deep sea creatures.” They have special bodies that help them survive in the dark, cold water.
Some deep sea creatures can glow in the dark. The anglerfish is one example. It has a small light on its head. This light attracts smaller fish. Then the anglerfish eats them! The anglerfish has a very big mouth and sharp teeth. It is a very strange-looking fish.
The giant squid is another deep sea creature. It is very large — some are as long as a school bus! The giant squid has eight arms and two long tentacles. It uses these to catch food. The giant squid has very big eyes. Its eyes help it see in the dark ocean.
There are millions of creatures living in the deep sea. Scientists discover new animals every year. Many of these animals look very unusual. They can be very small or very large. The deep sea is one of the most mysterious places on Earth. There is still so much to learn!
