The kangaroo is one of the most famous animals in the world, and it is found naturally on only one continent<\/strong>: Australia. Kangaroos are native<\/strong> to this land, which means they developed there and live nowhere else in the wild. What makes the kangaroo special is the way it moves. Instead of walking or running on four legs, a kangaroo travels by hopping on two powerful<\/strong> back legs. Huge \u0e01\u0e25\u0e49\u0e32\u0e21\u0e40\u0e19\u0e37\u0e49\u0e2d<\/strong> in its legs work like springs, storing energy with every bound and releasing it again. This lets a large kangaroo leap more than nine meters in a single jump and cover a great distance<\/strong> without getting tired. Its thick tail swings behind it to help the animal balance<\/strong> as it flies across the ground.<\/p>\n

Living in the Australian outback is not easy. To survive<\/strong> the heat, kangaroos rest in the shade during the hottest hours and feed in the cool of the morning and evening. They eat mostly grasses and can go for long periods with very little water. Their bodies are built to \u0e1b\u0e01\u0e1b\u0e49\u0e2d\u0e07<\/strong> them from the dry climate, and they even lick their front legs to cool down when temperatures rise.<\/p>\n

Like all marsupials, female kangaroos carry their young in a pouch. A newborn joey is no bigger than a jellybean. It crawls into the safety of the pouch, where it drinks milk and continues to grow for several months.
